VICTORIAN GREENS SECURE URGENT FUNDING TO UPGRADE TOILETS AT SPENSLEY STREET PRIMARY

2026-05-05

The Victorian Greens have secured $1.08 million in funding to urgently upgrade the toilets at Spensley Street Primary School in Clifton Hill.

It comes after years of advocacy and campaigning from Greens Member for Richmond, Gabrielle de Vietri and the school community.

The funding will be used to upgrade the toilets which are so run down that some students refused to use them.

MP for Richmond, Gabrielle de Vietri, says that the funding for the toilets will make a huge difference to the school community but working toilets is the absolute bare minimum.

The school has also been advocating for much needed funding for an upgrade to the learning, first aid and administration spaces and we will keep fighting for these.

Quotes attributable to Victorian Greens Member for Richmond, Gabrielle de Vietri:

“This funding is so needed and is a huge testament to the pressure mounted by the school community. But upgrading these toilets is the absolute bare minimum.”

“People in my electorate should be asking themselves who this Labor government really cares about when they can find billions of dollars for prisons, but can’t cough up a couple million for crumbling school buildings.”
